To celebrate the centenary year of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar’s birth, musicologist and arts writer S Kalidas will make a presentation on the life and music of this global Indian genius whom he calls the Tansen of our times.
S.Kalidas has been an active commentator and participant on the Indian arts scene for well over four decades. He was trained in Hindustani classical music formally by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur. He has worked as arts editor/ writer with The Times of India and India Today and was Group Executive Editor for Swagat and Discover India magazines. His stints in television include producing features for ITV (india), Doordarshan and Business India Television (BITV).
